About Ewen:

Interestingly, around 1730 this gracious building was taken down and moved across the Thames to its present site. High yew hedges and 215 year old Lebanese cedars dominate this serene oasis which is a profusion of colourful plants and flowers set in a series of attractively laid out gardens, all adorned with architectural features. The garden is further enhanced by a pretty summerhouse and a lovely rectangular lily pond.

The Wild Duck Inn dates from the 16th-century. Extremely atmospheric of its era, the inn has a lovely Elizabethan fireplace, original rich panelling in some rooms, with other rooms separated by open timber framing. The colour washed walls are hung with attractive pictures and the furniture has a distinct country charm. Warmly welcoming, the inn is an ideal stopping place where you can soak up the atmosphere of a by-gone age whilst enjoying a quiet drink followed by a hearty meal.

In the quiet countryside surrounding this quintessentially English hamlet, peaceful watermeadows are grazed by sheep and cattle and there is a variety of wildlife to be spotted along the reedy banks of the Thames.
